Are Capital was founded knowing that the best investment advice comes from having sat on every side of the table.

Over the past decade, our founder has built a career across project finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investment management, and infrastructure advisory throughout Latin America and the United States. Rather than developing expertise from a single perspective, he has structured, evaluated, financed, and managed investments as a sponsor, advisor, operator, and investor.

​

His career began in corporate credit risk, where he developed quantitative default-risk models for multinational industrial operations across multiple jurisdictions. That early experience provided a fundamental understanding of how businesses create value, manage capital, and navigate financial risk long before a transaction reaches the negotiating table.

​

He later transitioned into renewable energy investing, leading the development and maintenance of financial models that supported more than US$450 million of senior debt financings for utility-scale wind and solar projects. Among these was what was then the largest solar photovoltaic development in Latin America, financed by a syndicate of several international development finance institutions.

Building on that foundation, he spent several years advising governments, infrastructure sponsors, utilities, and multilateral lenders as part of a leading global professional services firm. During this period, he led financial modeling, valuation, and transaction analysis for large-scale energy, transportation, telecom, hospitality, water, and waste infrastructure projects throughout Latin America and Central America.

An MBA in the United States expanded both his international perspective and investment experience. While completing the program, he joined the investment team of a multi-gigawatt offshore wind platform, conducting investment due diligence and strategic analysis across nearly 7 GW of development-stage renewable energy assets in the United States.

 

He subsequently added a corporate finance perspective at a publicly traded U.S. company, gaining firsthand experience in capital allocation, strategic planning, and value creation beyond the infrastructure sector.

By 2024, after participating in transactions from virtually every stakeholder perspective, he founded Are Capital to bring that comprehensive view directly to clients. The firm's early engagements included advising on a minority-stake acquisition for a Mexican retail platform and supporting the structuring and execution of a nine-figure debt facility for a U.S. digital infrastructure developer.

Today, alongside leading Are Capital, he also teaches Mergers & Acquisitions at one of Mexico's top universities, where students learn through live transaction simulations designed to mirror real-world dealmaking.
